About Us

Werkstatt is a jewelry brand founded by Lejla Nuhić and Ajla Sarić, two talented individuals who met while studying at the Sarajevo Fine Arts School under the guidance of Dževad Hozo. Since its inception in 2015, the brand has grown to a team of seven, each member bringing their unique skills and perspectives to the table. One of the things that set us apart is our use of unique printmaking techniques such as copper etching, aquatint, drypoint, mezzotint, and soft ground. These techniques allow us to create intricate designs and patterns that are not possible without traditional methods.

Our Team

Today, our team consists of seven members, each with their own unique story and set of skills. From designers to artisans, every member of our team is dedicated to creating the highest quality jewelry pieces that tell a story.

Printmaking Techniques

We are known for our use of unique printmaking techniques. Here's a brief overview of the methods we use:

  • Copper Etching: This technique involves etching designs onto copper plates, which are then used to print the design onto the jewelry piece.
  • Aquatint: Aquatint is a technique that uses acid to etch the design onto the plate, creating a textured surface that prints a range of tonal values.
  • Drypoint: Drypoint is a technique where the design is scratched directly onto the plate, creating a raised surface that prints a sharp, detailed image.
  • Mezzotint: Mezzotint is a technique that uses a roughened plate to create a range of tonal values, from deep blacks to light grays.
  • Soft Ground: Soft ground is a technique where a soft, waxy substance is applied to the plate, allowing for delicate, detailed designs to be etched into the surface.
